Peru to test Taiwanese papaya for disease resistance

Papaya growers in Peru are experimenting with a Taiwanese variety of the fruit to test its resistance to the ringspot virus, which has infected about 300 out of 1,000 total hectares in the Ucayali region. Some producers have been forced to relocate their crops, resulting in minor deforestation, an official said.
