Physicians face Sept. 23 deadline to update HIPAA notices

Sept. 23 is the deadline for physician practices to add new patient rights to their HIPAA privacy notices. Under the new provisions, physicians cannot sell a patient's personal health information without their approval and patients can tell their doctor not to tell their insurer about services they pay for themselves.
