Report: U.S. ad spend to increase 3.6% this year to $171 billion

Advertisers in the U.S. are projected to spend $171 billion on paid media in 2013, a 3.6% increase from 2012's total, according to an updated forecast from eMarketer. The forecast calls for a higher growth rate next year on the strength of midterm elections, the Winter Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.
