Experts: China, U.S. are inching toward climate-change agreement

Climate-change negotiations between the U.S. and China seem to be progressing ahead of global talks in Copenhagen this December, with both countries promising cooperation over clean-energy technology. But China will not back a deal that limits its carbon emissions, contending such restrictions might impair economic development, analyst Elliot Diringer said. The country is more likely to support measures such as boosting fuel economy of vehicles and enhancing efficiency at power plants, Diringer said.
