Cirrus soars on strong exports in first half of 2010

Cirrus Aircraft, based in Duluth, Minn., reported strong overseas sales for the first half of the year despite an overall decline in general aviation manufacturing. Shipments of SR-22 and SR-20 piston-engine planes grew 5% in the first half of 2010, according to the company. "Nearly half of our business this year has been in the export business," said Todd Simmons, Cirrus' vice president of marketing.
