Class I railroads boost employment to highest level since 2009

The nation's top seven railroads are growing their employee rosters. Class I railroads added 1,519 workers from mid-June to mid-July, according to the Surface Transportation Board, nudging industry employment to its highest level since April 2009. The growth suggests that a slow-but-steady economic recovery is still on track.
