Delta, US Airways pursue growth while awaiting slot-swap ruling

Delta Air Lines and US Airways say their recent growth spurts at Washington Reagan and New York LaGuardia are not connected to their proposed slot-swap deal that is currently on appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Some observers have said the aggressive growth is a sign that the airlines are taking a more competitive stance as chances wane for approval of the slot swap. But both companies say they are simply pursuing logical growth plans while awaiting a court ruling, which could take a year or more.
