Mich. veterinarians urge vaccinations amid leptospirosis outbreak

Veterinarians are attributing the outbreak of leptospirosis in a Michigan area to bacteria-carrying rats, displaced by road construction there. The bacterial infection, for which several animals in the area have tested positive, is prompting veterinarians to advise owners to have their pets vaccinated against the potentially deadly disease.
