How an alligator could help fuel your car

U.S. researchers are testing the efficacy of alligator fat as an alternative feedstock for biodiesel production. About 15 million pounds of alligator fat is thrown away each year in the course of processing the animal for food. The fat is high in lipid content, and studies have found a 61% recovery in terms of weight when microwaved.
