Ill. schools launch social, emotional learning programs

Some elementary schools in Illinois are incorporating emotional and social learning with academics. Schools that have implemented such programs say the goal is to teach students how to behave, make friends and build self-confidence. In one district, teachers will, for the first time, evaluate their students' social and emotional skills to determine if students need more help in a particular area.
