Vt. board seeks education chief candidates under new law

Four members of the Vermont State Board of Education have been appointed to a panel charged with finding candidates for state education secretary. The panel will recommend three candidates to the full board, which then will make a final recommendation to the governor. Vermont recently passed a law elevating the education commissioner to a Cabinet-level secretary position to be named by the governor. Previously, the commissioner was appointed by the board.
