FAA grounds journalism school UAVs

In July, the Federal Aviation Administration sent letters to the University of Missouri's Drone Journalism Program and a similar program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln ordering them to stop using unmanned aerial vehicles until a Certificate of Authorization is obtained. Students in the two programs have been testing how UAVs can be used to gather news in hard-to-reach locations. At the University of Missouri, students have used UAVs to do stories on bird migration, archaeology and fracking.
