Fresh-food sales at drugstores beat category growth

Drugstore sales of fresh food, such as yogurt, breakfast meat, refrigerated juice and cheese, posted a double-digit increase for the year that ended June 16 and outpaced overall category growth, according to IRI. Growth comes as drugstore chains, including CVS/pharmacy and Walgreen, enter the fresh-food market with coolers for grab-and-go products, prepared meals and packaged salad.
