Ill. budget allots funds for capital projects in Chicago schools

A portion of a $400 million Illinois spending plan is slated for capital improvements for Chicago Public Schools -- in some cases, helping to complete projects that have been in queue since 2003. The $89 million will be used for renovations, roof repairs, upgrades to heating and cooling systems, modifications to make schools accessible to students with disabilities and complete other projects.
