California politicians back anti-cloning bill

The bipartisan group, including Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, said they support a bill co-sponsored by Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein to impose a federal ban on reproductive human cloning without hurting efforts to advance stem cell research. The governor said California showed its support for stem cell research last year by approving $3 billion in bonds to fund therapeutic stem cell research for 10 years.
