Investors could foot bill for mutual-fund manager shifts

A more competitive mutual-fund market, and subsequently quickening turnover of mutual-fund managers, could lead to larger capital-gains tax bills for investors. Some managers are also jumping to hedge funds. The average mutual-fund manager had been on the job for about 4.5 years as of July, according to one study.
