Social search takes on the algorithm

While social search cannot be relied upon to index and rank billions of Web pages, it is increasingly seen as a useful tool by Web users to find answers to questions online. Yahoo!, Google and other sites offer fee-based query services, and many popular news sites use a tagging function to rank stories based on interest and popularity.
