BASF is named preferred construction supplier for 1st zero-waste city

German chemical giant BASF has been named the preferred supplier of construction materials and system solutions for what is being promoted as the world's first zero-waste and carbon-neutral city. Masdar City, in the desert outside Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is being constructed to be powered 100% by renewable energy. BASF will provide components such as polystyrene and polyurethane foams for thermal insulation, as well as phase-change materials for gypsum or drywall to help with air conditioning.
