Billions of dollars of new capital pour into REITs

Commercial vacancies are at or near historic highs in much of the country, but investors are looking to the future and investing billions of dollars in real estate investment trusts. That investor enthusiasm is showing up in share prices in a big way. In March, REIT stocks fell to an 18-year low. But they've rallied and now the average REIT in the Los Angeles area is up 92%.
