Bio-based chemical firm raises funds to commercialize bio products

Allylix, a renewable-chemicals company specializing in bio-engineered sesquiterpenes such as fragrance chemicals, has secured $15 million in financing from investors and intends to use the funds for product launches. The company focuses on producing nootkatone, a substance found in grapefruit peels that is used as a component for applications such as insect repellents and pharmaceuticals.
