High school students opt for restaurant kitchen jobs

Teens aspiring to careers in the culinary industry are increasingly eschewing culinary academies in favor of real-world experience in high-stress restaurant kitchens. Some are finding apprenticeships with chefs, such as 18-year-old Jacob Greenberg, who captured the attention of pop-up eatery star Ludo Lefebvre. "I like the young apprentices in my kitchen -- they have a hungry energy -- and I would like to see more of the next generation of chefs learn the way we did in France," Lefebvre said.
