McDonald's promotes U.K. chief to head global efforts

McDonald's has named Steve Easterbrook as its new executive vice president and global chief brand officer, beginning Sept. 1. Easterbrook has served as president and CEO of McDonald's U.K. since 2006. He is credited with increasing European sales for the quickservice chain at a time when international competition is heating up among U.S. chains looking to expand their brands globally.
