Report: VC firms are increasing renewable-chemicals investments

Venture capital firms are turning to the renewable-chemicals sector, where investments reached $361 million in the first half of this year, according to a report from CleanTech Group. Renewable-chemical firms are benefiting as VC firms realize the sector's potential, while producers that are already supported are ramping up development of high-value green chemicals. "While capital intensity had been a concern in the past, the sums required to reach commercialization are considerably less than in many other sectors such as biofuels," the report said.
