Businesses feel the brunt of Alabama's illegal-immigration law

Alabama's illegal-immigration law has drawn fire from businesses, especially those in the agriculture and construction sectors, as their labor forces suffer from immigrants leaving the state. The measure has slowed reconstruction efforts in tornado-ravaged Tuscaloosa, Ala., said James Latham, president of the Alabama Associated General Contractors. U.S. District Judge Sharon Blackburn is slated to hear arguments today and could block some portions of the law.
