FCC clears Verizon spectrum buy with conditions

The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday unanimously approved Verizon Wireless' $3.9 billion purchase of wireless spectrum from a group of cable companies, as long as the carrier agrees to its conditions, some of which are on top of those imposed by the Department of Justice. Regulators mandated that Verizon roll out wireless service using the advanced wireless services spectrum within certain deadlines and offer data roaming to rivals at reasonable prices.
