Pa. district's transition program pairs students with college mentors

Students with disabilities ages 18 to 21 at Parkland High School in Pennsylvania work with college-student mentors from Lehigh Carbon Community College two mornings a week through the school district's transition program. Students practice life and social skills and attend classes in the afternoon on the college campus. Parkland Board President Jayne Bartlett said the program is a good match for the students because they are more likely to learn from their peers and teachers than their parents.
