Zoos' births: 1 snow leopard, 1 surviving panda cub

The Brookfield Zoo near Chicago has announced the June birth of a snow leopard, while the National Zoo in Washington tweeted that panda Mei Xiang gave birth Friday. A second panda cub was stillborn 26 hours later and had extensive birth defects, according to the zoo's chief veterinarian Suzan Murray, but she said the surviving cub appears to be strong and healthy.
