Analysis: Companies struggle to supplant human manufacturing with robotics

Building gadgets such as smartphones remains human-dominated because intricate devices are difficult for robots to properly assemble. Experts foresee continued demand for tech jobs. "Many of the middle-skill jobs that persist in the future will combine routine technical tasks with the set of non-routine tasks in which workers hold comparative advantage -- interpersonal interaction, flexibility, adaptability and problem-solving," David Autor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology wrote in a research paper.
