Community memorializes murdered teacher

Two years after veteran second-grade teacher Alicia Shanks, 56, was murdered in her classroom, her former students have helped dedicate a memorial gazebo and outdoor classroom in her honor. "Alicia showed us, showed me, what it was to be extraordinary," said parent Betsi White. "She never thought she was extraordinary, but we all know that [she was]."
