Maple Leaf issues Canada-wide recall of cured meats

Maple Leaf Foods has ordered a Canada-wide recall of cured-meat products that were manufactured at its facility in Toronto, which has been confirmed as the source of an outbreak of the listeria bacteria. The move is expected to cost the company an estimated $19 million. The company will "act in the best interests of public health" to regain consumer trust, said Michael McCain, Maple Leaf president and CEO.
