CCHIT to introduce new EHR software certification program

The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology is pushing through with plans to launch a less-specific certification program for electronic health records software that would concentrate only on compliance with standards required for "meaningful use." The program is slated to be introduced in October to give more time for EHR selection and deployment to providers that want to qualify for incentives under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
