Heart group sets guidelines on sugar intake for Americans

American adults consume about 22 teaspoons of sugar a day -- way above the limit of nine teaspoons a day for men and six teaspoons a day for women recommended by the American Heart Association. Consumers should study their diets and determine "where the sources of added sugars are and think about how to cut back on that," a nutrition expert said.
