Hospitals more proactive about medical errors

Hospitals are being more open with patients and families about medical errors, apologizing and implementing systemic changes to help prevent similar mistakes in the future. There is evidence showing patients involved in this new, more open process are less likely to sue, but hospital officials say the long-term solution is to improve hospital safety records.
