Amnesty warns Yemen puts security before rights

Yemeni authorities are ignoring human rights in their quest to battle al-Qaida elements, a separatist movement in the country's south and rebels in the north, Amnesty International says in a new report. Authorities have sanctioned arbitrary detentions, sham trials, torture and extrajudicial killings of terrorism suspects, journalists and human-rights activists, Amnesty charges.
