Duncan to promote the disclosure of value-added data

Education Secretary Arne Duncan is expected to call on school districts to disclose data that links student test scores to individual teachers, as he gives a speech today in Little Rock, Ark. According to a draft of the speech, Duncan will single out the Los Angeles Unified School District, where value-added data on teachers was used by the Los Angeles Times -- rather than the district -- to shed light on teacher effectiveness.
