America's fast-food giants have had plenty of luck in the global market, with McDonald's, Yum Brands and Burger King raking in huge sums from their international operations. Now Wendy's, which has only a few hundred overseas branches, is seeking to follow suit, with plans to launch hundreds of new restaurants around the world. "They're playing catch-up, but they should be doing that," said Jay Anand, a professor of corporate strategy at Ohio State University. "The U.S. and Canada are saturated markets. You need to be in growing markets."
