Western Surety steps up water-district project with deadline looming

Kelly and Scott County Central school districts in Benton, Mo., should be receiving clean water by mid-September. The water-distribution system project hit a delay when the Municipal Construction ceased working on the project and subsequently the water district voted to terminate its contract. Western Surety, MCI's bonding company, is finalizing the takeover provisions for the project. If work is not completed after the Sept. 13 target date, it will be charged $900 per day in damages.
