Calif. firefighters burn off propane in rail tanker

Firefighters battling the blaze from a burning 29,000-gallon propane-tanker railcar in Lincoln, Calif., decided to let the remaining fuel in the tank burn off while constantly dousing it with water and foam. "The good news is ... the problem has gone away. By morning time we should be golden," said city Fire Chief Dave Whitt. Officials have withdrawn their original plan to drill a hole in the burning tanker and drain the remaining fuel, after learning that "the tank is pretty much empty," Whitt said.
