Md. AG: Homebuilder failed to secure bond covering customers' payments

A division of the Maryland attorney general's office has ordered a contractor to refund more than $100,000 in customer payments and pay thousands more in penalties. The contractor didn't place customer payments in escrow and didn't have a surety bond to cover payments and deposits as required by the Maryland's Custom Home Protection Act, according to the division.
