Loppers, a smaller version of a chain saw, offer a safer way to trim and prune tree limbs, Mike McClintock writes. The equipment features 6-inch chain bars inside protective jaws. The Black & Decker LP1000 Alligator Lopper has two handles that make pruning easy, and its safety features include tandem on-off switches and an anti-kickback mechanism, McClintock writes.
