Survey: 1 in 10 employers could stop offering health insurance

Almost 10% of midsize or large companies say they'll stop offering health insurance once federal insurance exchanges begin in 2014, a Towers Watson survey found. Some 20% of employers say they're unsure what they will do. "If one employer does it, others likely will follow," says Paul Fronstin of the Employee Benefit Research Institute. "You would see this playing out over the course of years, not months."
