Texas commission seeks legal action to delay new EPA rule

The Cross-State Air Pollution Rule issued by the Environmental Protection Agency has driven the Texas Railroad Commission to request "prompt legal action" by the state's attorney general to postpone the rule's implementation, which poses risks to power stability in the region, according to state officials. "About 45% of the electric power generated in Texas comes from coal, and almost 40% of that coal is Texas lignite, which provides Texans with jobs and a low-cost fuel," officials stated in a letter.
