UI professor creates new structure for car batteries

Paul Braun, a professor of material science at the University of Illinois, has developed a battery structure that promises to boost the energy of rechargeable batteries without sacrificing power. The new technology can be applied to lithium-ion and nickel metal hydride batteries, said Braun, who has started a company, Xerion Advanced Battery, to promote use of the technology.
