Verizon sells smartphone-powered credit card reader

Verizon Wireless hopes to entice more small-business owners to buy smartphones by selling Intuit's GoPayment credit card reader in its retail stores. The card reader plugs into the audio jack of Apple, Android and BlackBerry smartphones and tablets, and salespeople in carrier stores will be trained to teach small-business owners how to use the reader. Verizon Wireless customers can get the card reader free after a $30 rebate.
