Big West Oil, AK Steel reach pollution settlements

Big West Oil and the federal Environmental Protection Agency have settled a case of alleged pollution violations at a Utah refinery. The company will pay a fine of $175,000 for Clean Air Act violations and spend $18 million for the installation of pollution-reduction systems at the facility. Meanwhile, AK Steel resolved alleged Clean Air Act violations at a now-defunct coke plant, agreeing to pay a $1.65 million fine.
