Commentary: Congress may have no time to tackle insurance issues

Congress will "have an extremely tight window of opportunity" after returning from its summer break to act on matters that concern the insurance industry, writes Mark Hofmann. Measures such as the National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers Reform Act of 2013 could be easy to tackle, Hofmann writes. "But with acrimony so bitter and off-year elections looming next November, lawmakers may simply decide to throw in the towel next year absent a major domestic or foreign crisis," he writes.
