Fracking remains divisive as Interior closes comment period for proposed rules

Industry groups continue to oppose federal regulation of hydraulic fracturing as the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management on Friday closed the public comment period on its proposals. The groups say that current state-based regulations are working effectively and that there's no evidence that fracking affects groundwater. The proposed regulations would cover federal and Indian lands.
