NIH: Blood transfusion trial involving preemies meets standards

In response to a letter from advocacy group Public Citizen, the NIH issued a statement saying a randomized study of blood transfusion protocols for the treatment of anemia in premature babies adheres to the highest ethical and clinical standards. Institutional review boards have approved all consent procedures, the NIH said.
