Pregnant or recently postpartum women who had scores of six or higher using the "Sepsis in Obstetrics Score" were at increased risk of intensive care unit admission than those with lower scores, according to a study presented at the Infectious Diseases Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology meeting. Metrics incorporated into the score include heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, white blood cell count, percentage of immature neutrophils, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and lactic acid levels.
