Sears tries out developers to boost traffic in store, online

Sears Holdings has held a hackathon to attract candidates for several hundred open technology positions, as the retailer works to produce applications that would boost Sears and Kmart sales in store and online. "We have lots of ideas ... but we don't have all the people we need yet to execute against the ideas," said George Goley, who became chief information officer of Sears' online business after about six years at Amazon.
